UpCycled Art Exhibit and Auction

The concept behind the UPCYCLED ART EXHIBIT AND AUCTION is to ask members of the community to create and donate items that can be auctioned off in a silent auction at Grow Benzie on June 20, 2020, to raise money to support the work of Habitat for Humanity Benzie County.

We are hoping for items that can be reasonably sold for $25 or more, and that follow these general guidelines:

• Items are to be created using reclaimed and repurposed objects and/or materials, including used furniture, fixtures, and/or household goods from the RESTORe, other resale stores, or your own basement or attic.
• Upcycled fabric can also be used to create garments or other useful household items, e.g., baby quilts, wall hangings, aprons, tablecloths, etc. The MIFibershed at Grow Benzie has a huge assortment of fabrics, fibers, and notions available or you can use materials from your own stash.
• We’re hoping to strike a balance between creativity and utility – that is, items that are both artful and useful in some way, which could also include home décor items, wall art, yard art, etc.
• Any materials or processes can be used to develop items for auction, as long as the finished product includes some reclaimed and repurposed component(s).

If you or anyone you know is looking for ideas or assistance on a project, please let us know and we will include you in our notifications for brainstorming sessions and possible field trips to select materials from upcycled businesses.

If you are willing to make a commitment to creating one or more upcycled items for the auction, complete and return the registration form below for each project and participant so that we can keep in touch with you and plan appropriately for the auction event.

Artist/Creator is responsible for delivering work to Grow Benzie on October 8 between 12 pm and 4 pm.
Upon delivery, your work is considered a donation to HFHBC.
