Senator Bumstead Visits Benzie Habitat Build Site
On July 7, Michigan Senator Jon Bumstead met with Benzie Habitat directors and visited the three homes currently under construction in Thompsonville. The Senator stated that he was impressed with the innovative Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) foundations and overall build quality.
The Senator also visited a completed home and met with the owner Kayla Russell. Kayla informed the Senator that she is very pleased with her home and its energy efficiency features.
Part of the funding for construction of these Thompsonville homes came from a state budget allocation that was received by Habitat for Humanity of Michigan and distributed to affiliates via their Advancing Affordable Housing Program. Benzie Habitat was awarded grants totaling $152,500.
