Benzie Habitat Receives $100,000 Grant for Affordable Housing
Habitat for Humanity of Benzie County has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Habitat for Humanity of Michigan Advancing Affordable Housing Program (AAHP). The AAHP funds are intended to be used to construct new homes, rehabilitate existing homes, provide down payment assistance or cover actual construction/rehabilitation costs over the sales price/appraised value.
Benzie Habitat will use the grant funds to increase the production of affordable, Energy Star Certified homes in the Village of Thompsonville on lots recently purchased from the Benzie County Land Bank Authority. All homes will be sold to qualified partner families with a household Area Median Income of 120% or less.
In February of this year, Benzie Habitat sold two homes to low-income partner families and began construction of a third home. For more information on becoming a Habitat partner family, or volunteering please contact us at admin@benziehabitat.org or 231-399-0300.
